Edublox Clinic in Doringkloof, Centurion
Various factors motivated the owner of Edublox Centurion to follow her passion: assisting children with reading and learning difficulties. After becoming the world record holder in speed reading in 2003, Louise Huisamen realised that everybody should have the opportunity to live up to his/her potential especially children. Following various articles of Professor Jonathan Jansen (Rector of the University of the Free State) and Deputy President Kgaleme Mothlanthe on the low standards in our schools, Louise decided to get involved where it would make a difference giving children the skills and tools to reach their full potential. Edublox provided her with the platform to turn her vision into a reality. ‘I want every child to be a champion in his/her own right, to obtain the necessary skills, to acquire all the knowledge they may need to fulfil their dreams, and above all, create a love for books and reading,’ says Louise. ‘Children lose their self-worth when they realise they can’t keep up with their friends. Building their self-esteem by providing them with the cognitive skills needed for reading and subsequent learning is the most rewarding aspect of being involved with Edublox. ‘My degree in International Politics, diplomas in Public Relations and Business Management and working in these environments for years, could never come close to what I am doing now. I am living my passion,’ concludes Louise.
